The Ottawa Snooker Club is committed to promoting and growing the game. A big part of that is making the game accessible to new players. To that end, we offer free clinics to players who are new to the game. No membership, app, or commitment is required- we want to introduce anybody interested to snooker!

These clinics are scheduled on demand based on the availability of interested people. Whenever we have 2 or more people who can attend at the same time, the clinic will be run. To register your interest, email the club at info@ottawasnookerclub.com.

The clinic’s content is adjusted to individuals. Whether you’re new to cue sports, experienced in other games, or at any early stage of your snooker playing- the clinic will be adapted to you. Generally, the available content covers:

  • Our 2-hour ‘Intro to Snooker’ clinic will provide the participants a good base for understanding the game of snooker and the key pieces that a player needs to start succeeding in the game.
  • The session will provide a mix of discussion, demonstration and guidance to the participants as they try to incorporate what they have heard and seen. We will cover the following aspects of the game:
    • Overview of the game includes:
      • layout and setup
      • table
      • basic rules, scoring, and fouls
    • Selecting and caring for your cue
    • Fundamentals of the game
      • Grip
      • Bridge
      • Stance
      • Shot Setup
      • Shot Execution
  • You will spend a good percentage of the session working through the fundamentals and receiving feedback on areas to adjust.
